description Tompkins Campground is on the north shore of Cowanesque Lake in the northern tier of Pennsylvania, less than one mile from the New York state border. Surrounded by lush forested ridges, the lake offers recreation for the entire family, including picnicking, swimming, boating, fishing, hiking, hunting and wildlife watching. The campground is a great place for kids of any age.
drivingDirection Take U.S. Highway 15 to the Lawrenceville/Route 49 exit. Go one mile east on Route 49 to Lawrenceville. At the traffic light turn left onto State Route 287. Cross the Cowanesque River Bridge at the edge of town and make an immediate left turn onto Bliss Road. Continue 5 miles to the campground entrance.
facilitiesDescription Tompkins has a variety of shoreline sites, most of which have electric hookups. The campground includes more than 80 traditional campsites, 16 hike-in sites for tents, RV sites and a 24-site group camping area. A boat ramp, drinking water, hot showers, playgrounds and a dump station are also provided. There are two overlooks and two downstream fishing access points.

importantInformation CAMPGROUND USERS: Please have your license plate number, boat and trailer license plate number, and Senior or Access Pass with you while registering at designated campground. Senior and Access Pass entered at time of reservation will be honored. Campground check-in is 4:00 p.m. Campground checkout time is 3:00 p.m., which is strictly enforced. Failure to leave campground before 3:00 p.m. may result in late fee or citation. Campers arriving early/before check-in will be asked to wait in Day Use Facilities until 4 p.m. If campers fail to register within twenty four hours of check in time without contacting the park office, sites will be released with a $20.00 charge plus the first nights fee per established no show policies. One RV and one tent or two tents per site. Two vehicles per site, $3.00 fee for additional vehicle or visitor parking and must be parked on camping pad or parking lots, no parking on grass.Vehicles and boat trailers shall be parked in designated areas. Camper Assistance Sheet with additional local rules and policy including fees will be issued at check in at the Campground Camp Control offices. Site transfer fee - $10.00. Please be advised that the electric pedestal, sewer and water connection for this site maybe located more than 30 feet away from the camping pad and may require additional electric cord, sewer and /or water hose. Due to Arc Flash/Safety Concerns, campers are prohibited from tampering with electric service to include the use of voltage meters. Electrical issues shall be promptly reported to a staff member. Camping at one or more campsites at any one water resource project for a period longer than 14 days during any 30-consecutive-day period is prohibited. Quiet hours in the campgrounds at 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., which include the use of generators. Please obey all speed limits. Drive carefully and watch for children. Pets are permitted but must be penned, caged, on a leash under six feet in length or otherwise be physically restrained. Electric fences are prohibited. recreationDescription Cowanesque Lake offers a variety of outdoor activities. With a boat ramp and overnight mooring, campers can easily spend time on the water. There are a variety of indigenous fish that inhabit the area's streams and lakes, and fishing tournaments are held frequently. The North and South Tailrace areas provide access for fishing downstream of Cowanesque Dam. The fields and forests around the lakes are popular destinations for both local and out-of-state hunters looking for large and small game species native to the eastern hardwood forests. The 4 mile Moccasin Trail within the facility leads hikers on a trek through reclaimed farm fields and wood lots inhabited by a variety of watchable wildlife.
